Friday, Governor David Patterson and the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation’s (HESC) launched a new website to assist students and families in the financial aid process.

The Student Loan Marketplace has been created to provide information and comparison services for private student loans.  The Governor and HESC believe the site to be the first and certainly the most informative. “HESC Marketplace ensures that New York’s private student loan borrowers will have easy access to the unbiased facts and information they need to evaluate and decide on the college financing options that best suit their individual situations,” said Governor Paterson. “This valuable resource will bring transparency and clarity to the often confusing process of choosing the right student loan.”  The site can be found at HESCMarketplace.org. As of this writing, PNC, Discover and the State Employees Federal Credit Union (SEFCU), have committed to join the site and all are either online now or will be in the immediate future.
